Pasuruan, – Kementerian Pertanian (Kementan) kian optimis Indonesia dapat memenuhi kebutuhan bawang putih nasional dalam beberapa tahun ke depan atau tepatnya swasembada di tahun 2021. Pasalnya beberapa daerah di Indonesia cocok untuk melakukan budidaya bawang putih, salah satunya Kabupaten Pasuruan, Jawa Timur.
Kepala Bagian Produksi Hortikultura dan Perkebunan Pasuruan, Dodi Setiawan mengatakan Pasuruan memiliki sekitar 3.000 hektare lahan yang cocok untuk bawang putih. Pasuruan memang dulunya sentra produksi bawang putih dan mulai tahun 2019, petani menanam kembali karena harga dan kebijakan pemerintah yang benar-benar mendukung. Kecamatan Tutur dan Tosari merupakan wilayah pengembangan di Pasuruan.
“Lahan bawang putih kami sekarang ini yang biasa di tanam kentang, supaya tidak terus menerus kentang, bawang putih bisa jadi alternatif juga. Di Kecamatan Tutur sendiri sudah 100 hektare ditanami bawang putih. Penanaman ini dilakukan importir dari kewajiban tanamannya 5 persen,” demikian jelas Kepala Bagian Produksi Hortikultura dan Perkebunan Pasuruan, Dodi Setiawam di Pasuruan, Sabtu (11/5).
Menurut catatan Dodi, hingga ini sudah ada lima importir yang sudah melakukan wajib tanam. Hal itu pun mendapat dukungan dari petani guna melakukan rotasi tanaman untuk menjaga kesuburan lahan.
“Petani juga semangat karena harga bawang putih saat ini sangat menguntungkan petani,” ujarnya.
Salah seorang petani bawang putih Bu Suyi (55) mengatakan pada bulan Februari 2019 menanam bawang putih, bermitra dengan salah satu importir. Ia menanam bawang putih sekitar 3.450 meter dan ditargetkan panen bulan Juni mendatang.
“Tahun ini kami masih menanam sedikit karena takut rugi. Sekarang ini bawangnya agak bagus, buahnya agak besar. Saya lumayan puas. Nanti nanam lagi satu hektare,” kata Bu Suyi di lahan bawang putihnya di Desa Kayukebek, Kecamatan Tutur, Pasuruan.
Bu Suyi menjelaskan, saat ini produksi bawang putih di lahanya hanya mampu menghasilkan delapan ton per hektare. Namun, bisa meningkat menjadi 15 sampai 20 ton per hektare jika penanganannya maksimal.
“Karena ini kerja sama dengan perusahaan (importir, red), hasil panennya nanti dibelinya dengan harga Rp15.000 per kilogram,” jelasnya.
Sementara itu, dari pihak importir, Cahyono mengatakan harga Rp15.000 per kilo itu bukan kondisi basah, tapi kondisi mamel (posisi setengah kering) yang sudah dijemur sekitar 10 hingga 15 hari.
“Kalo posisi basah cabut itu kita hargai sekitar 11.700 per kilo. Soal kerja sama kita 30 -70 setelah pengembalian bibit. Jadi bibit kita kasih , tapi tidak sepenuhnya dari perusahaan,” ujarnya.
Cahyono mengakui di tahun 2019 mendapat kewajiban tanam bawang putih dari Kementan seluas 150 hektare. Namun penanaman baru terealisasi seluas 21 hektare.
“Kami terus perluas lahan penanaman bawang putih. Petani di wilayah Tutur ini sangat antusias, jadi kami optimis bisa bantu pemerintah wujudkan swasembada,” sambung dia.
